Carmel Cox is a painter, sculptor and craftsperson. She works from her art studio “The Lazy Dog” at Long Beach. After studying Fine Art, Trompe Lóeil and Air Brushing, Carmel worked primarily in oils, acrylics and mixed media for many years.
These days, Carmel’s work also encompasses 3D sculptures, with a distinctive Steam Punk theme. She up-cycles books, bottles and found objects. Her more recent paintings take on a surreal quality, mixing Steam Punk with fantasy. Her limited palette of indigo and blues for her celestial night skies provides a magical backdrop for her quirky paintings.
She has won awards for her paintings, sculptures and altered books and bottles. She has exhibited in the Book Art Competition, Art2O, Revive, Literary Salon & Artist Floor Talk (through Eurobodalla Council), Queanbeyan Art Society, Sculpture on Clyde, and CABBI exhibitions. She also opens her art studio to the public during River of Art Festival.
